T Rex if You Are Happy and You Know It

"If You're Happy and Yous Know It" is a popular repetitive children's and drinking vocal. The song has been noted for its similarities to "Molodejnaya", a vocal actualization in the 1938 Soviet musical film Volga-Volga.[1]

History [edit]

The origin of the melody is not known, but numerous sources trace it dorsum to Kingdom of spain, Latin America, Latvia or the Usa of America.

The song was published in diverse places through the decades following the late 1960s, including a volume of "constructive recreational activities" for children (1957),[ii] a book of drama projects for disabled children (1967),[3] and a nursing domicile transmission (1966).[4]

In 1971, Jonico Music filed for copyright on the song, crediting information technology to Joe Raposo.[v]

During the early on role of the 2000s, the music Recording Manufacture Association of America actively prosecuted individuals for downloading music using file-sharing services. Widespread media attention was paid to i 12-twelvemonth-onetime, whose downloads included "If You're Happy and You Know It" from Kazaa.[6] [7] [8] [ix]

In 2007, the song was included as role of the Nihon no Uta Hyakusen, a list of the 100 nigh well-known folk songs in Japan. It is ane of nine songs from foreign countries included on the list. It was selected past the Bureau of Cultural Affairs and the National Congress of Parents and Teachers Associations of Nippon.

In 2020, Granger Smith recorded a version that relied on alcohol drinking called "State and Ya Know It".[10]

Lyric variations [edit]

Like many children's songs, there are many versions of the lyrics. A popular version goes like this:

If you lot're happy and yous know information technology, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it, handclapping your hands!
If you lot're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it;
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!

This verse is unremarkably followed by three more than, 4 more, etc. which follow the same pattern but say: "If you're happy and you know it, stomp/stamp your feet!", "If y'all're happy and you lot know information technology, shout/say 'hooray'!" or "shout/say 'amen'!", "If you're happy and you know information technology, do all three!" and "If y'all're happy and you know it, do all four!". Other versions of the vocal tend to say "then your face will surely show it" in place of "and you really desire to show it"; the form "then you really ought to show it" has too been used. Many variations on the substance of the first three verses be, including:[11]

"... shout/say, 'Hooray'!"
"... slap your knees!"
"... slap your legs!"
"... turn around!"
"... snap your fingers!"
"... nod your caput!"
"... tap your toe!"
"... honk your nose!"
"... pat your head!"
"... shout/say, 'We are'!"
"... stomp/stamp your feet!"
"... shout/say, 'Ha, ha'!"
"... shout/say, 'Amen'!"
"... exercise all 3!"
"... do all iv!"
